Canvasback bookends, Dr. Lewis Webb Hill (1889-1968), Boston, Massachusetts, circa 1930.
Dr Hill was a prominent Boston pediatrician. He was friends with Dr. John C. Phillips and Dr. George Ross Starr Jr. Relief carved wings and crossed wing tips. Mounted on beautifully grained lignum vitae bases signed 'Hill'. Measure 9 3/4" long. CONDITION: One with reglued crack in bill and a repaired chip in one raised wing tip, otherwise both excellent and original.
