Miniature brant and merganser, Robert Means, Boston, Massachusetts.
Means was a friend of Dr. John C. Phillips and his carvings were exhibited along with Shang Wheeler, Bob McGaw, AJ Dando, and others at the 1931 Wildfowl Decoys Exhibition at Abercrombie and Fitch. Relief wingtip carving and carved extended crest on merganser. Identified, signed, and dated 1930 and 1932.
CONDITION: Original paint with very minor wear; minor flaking to gesso on mergansers legs and a reglued crack in its neck; some touchup on mergansers head.
